Voting is underway for this year’s Best of the Midwest Awards. Joanna Rudnick’s newest documentary is in contention for for best short film and editor Liz Kaar got a nomination best editing. Audience members can cast their votes through Nov. 23, 2015 and the winners will be announced on Dec. 1. This comes after the film screened at the Midwest Independent Film Festival’s opening night on June 2 along with other short films by other local female filmmakers. Education initiatives move forward in fall

The “On Beauty” team is excited to announce many new education initiatives that come after a successful event-filled summer. Joanna Rudnick’s newest documentary challenges us to rethink the way we see differences within ourselves and others, and we are excited to bring the film and movement to young people around the country. Our distribution partner, Women Make Movies, is helping us create the educational DVDs that schools and other institutions may purchase to show the film in classes and other educational settings. Joanna Rudnick’s latest award-winning documentary short is the featured film on opening night for the ReelAbilities: Chicago festival at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Studio Xfinity. As “On Beauty” traveled from Los Angeles to New York and cities in between, press around the world praised the film, people and movement. A recent broadcast featured Rick Guidotti and Margaret Breed in a segment on CBS Evening News. This week Joanna Rudnick’s award-winning film finished its theatrical premiere in LA and opened in NY theaters, and has been accompanied by a surge of interest, proving that the time has come for Rick Guidotti’s movement encouraging society to see the beauty in difference. On Beauty garnering worldwide attention ahead of theatrical opening

One week ahead of the film opening in theaters in Los Angeles, “On Beauty” is getting positive exposure around the world. Joanna Rudnick’s award-winning documentary follows fashion photographer Rick Guidotti, who has now devoted his life to shooting stunning images of children with visible genetic differences such as albinism and facial birthmarks. The film opens with daily showings from July 24 at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles, and from July 31 at the Cinema Village in New York. Theatrical premiere in LA, NY part of exciting summer

Joanna Rudnick’s latest award-winning documentary short will premiere in theaters on Friday, July 24 at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, Calif. and run daily until July 30. “On Beauty” will be part of the Female Filmmakers night on June 2 at the Landmark Theater. The screening is part of the Midwest Independent Film Festival’s monthly program First Tuesdays, which highlights films and filmmakers from the Midwest. ‘On Beauty’ wins third straight award

Joanna Rudnick’s latest film has won another film festival award – the audience award at the 2015 Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. The award is the third straight award for the film, coming soon after the jury prizes for best documentary short at its last two festival showings: the Cleveland International Film Festival and the festival in Geneva, IL. “On Beauty” also won the audience award for best short film at its world premiere week at the Chicago International Film Festival. First special screenings at universities

The first screenings for universities are scheduled to begin this spring at campuses on each coast of the country with special guests scheduled to attend. First there is a screening at 7 p.m. on April 22 at Long Island University, hosted by the schools genetics counseling graduate program. After a screening of the film, there will be a panel discussion that includes members from the Marfan Foundation and Rick Guidotti. “On Beauty” will then travel to the University of Washington in Seattle for two special screenings on May 5.
