“On Beauty” is using the momentum from the busy, successful summer as a springboard into an equally exciting fall that is already packed with screenings around the country.
Joanna Rudnick’s latest award-winning documentary short is the featured film on opening night for the ReelAbilities: Chicago festival at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Studio Xfinity. After the screening of “On Beauty,” NOAH Executive Director Mike McGowan and Chromosome 18 Registry Director of Individual Fundraising Kelly Collins will be part of a short panel discussion about redefining how we treat and see differences in ourselves and others. The opening night event will also include other short films, food, drinks and exhibitions. Visit their website for the full schedule and more information.
The film will also return to Washington state for the Port Townsend Film Festival. “On Beauty” is part of the “How I See Myself” shorts program with showings at 9 p.m. on Sept. 25 and at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 26. Purchase festival passes and view the full schedule here.
We are also excited to head to Minneapolis, MN to be part of the annual conference for the National Council of Teachers of English as part of the NCTE’s screening room, a program designed to showcase films that educators can use in lessons and classrooms. “On Beauty” will screen at 1:25 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, but the program runs all day. Another Kartemquin Films production, “The Homestretch,” will conclude the program followed by a Q&A with one of the stars of “The Homestretch.”
